So I am coming into my second month here in Georgia, deep south, U.S of A. and I want to continue to share just a little about what I’m experiencing in my open time leading up to leader training next week and NOVAS launch right after that.

I just returned home from a few days in Mexico doing some set up with Tag Thompson. We stopped in Memphis and I also got to see a little bit of Texas as well when we flew into Mcallen, which is basically a border town. It may seem ridiculous considering I have and will be flying all the time, but it freaks me out sometimes when the plane moves ever so slightly.
Man do I sweat.
You can pray for me I guess. This time around the flights were great. Thank you Jesus.
We then drove over the border where the Mexican army briefly (and kindly) searched our vehicle for drugs, which unlike in my shady past, we did not have.

We were able to see the AIM base outside Matamoros, where we will all spend the first eight weeks of Novas training. It was and will be VERY hot. Hotter than Southern Africa ever was which is surprising but true.
Tag and I were able to try real local Mexican food, yes even some tasty pig intestines. (which was a very small portion of what we had and is as weird as it sounds.) It was nice to just hang out with him as well.
I also spent a few nights staring up at the clear sky, full of stars thanking The Lord so much that while I was once driven to be content driving our band’s tour van from town to town (always so exctited to go somewhere I had never seen before) He in all that time had the nations in store for me if indeed I would only say “Yes Lord, I will Follow you.”

Isaiah 55:5
Surely you summon nations you know not,
and nations you do not know will come running to you,
because of The lord your God,
The Holy One of Israel,
for He has endowed you with splendor.

“Anyone who does not take up his cross and follow me cannot be my disciple.”
Luke 14:27

Back here in Gainesville, some of you will never believe this, but I sat in a nursing home and played bingo with about eighteen elderly folks.

Yup.

Rock star goes bingo.
Awesome.

Me and one of my co-leaders, Becca, had been talking about doing something more fruitful in the actual community here and when I came home from Mexico she has found just the place.

And so in we went…. we are due back next Tuesday.

Mother Theresa once stated that in all the poverty she had seen the world over, of all the slums and the filth she had encountered a North American nursing home was surely the saddest.

As the immobile elderly, living breathing people daily look on towards a door hopefully waiting for family to visit, who surely never will visit
.

I am also currently reading a book called the Vision and The Vow, a little piece of which I will leave you with until next time….

Pete Grieg speaking on “Growing up in our Grace”:

“I believe the Holy Spirit is calling us at this time to grow up in grace and to move from a message of inward looking intimacy with the Father to active and sacrificial engagement with the pain and sin of the world. It’s time to get our boots muddy-to cross the Jordan and inhabit the land.”

”Whenever the Body of Christ combines intimacy with involvement, she walks the corridors of power
(though I, Blair, must add that this does not necessarily mean political stature), she dances with the meek, she stands up for the rights of the poor, and she does all this with a true heart of worship both offensive and attractive to a watching world.
